"We stayed at Oohira hotel in October to use it as a base for hiking. It is perfectly located, near the top end of Zao Onsen, right next to the base of the mountain and the big Zao outdoor onsen. "Clean room, amenities, massage chair, suite-like room, futuristic Toyo toilet, TV in each room, two beds, spacious bathroom, the whole package. I stayed for three nights in the Luxury suite. It was worth it. They have three restaurants in the hotel. The Zao Ropeway is 5 to 10 minutes away. You can by your gondola tickets at the front desk at a discounted price. Location wise, you are literally near the slopes. The bus terminal is a 7 to 10 minute walk."
