With its forests, floral displays and public works of art, Yeouido Park is a beloved jewel in Seoul’s island banking district. The park is known as one of the best spots in the city from which to view springtime cherry blossoms, which line the perimeter of this long, rectangular park. Nibble on cotton candy, as you make your way down the majestic boulevards of this park.
Relax next to a serene and picturesque pond, surrounded by colorful flowers and well-kept hedges. Join skaters and cyclists on the tracks running through the large park. Two children’s playgrounds will keep the kids entertained as you traverse the grounds. The park is split into four sections: the Traditional Korean Forest, the Nature’s Ecosystem Forest, the Culture Square and the Grass Square.
Visit the impressive National Assembly Building just west of the park and admire its imposing columns. Stroll along adjacent Yunjunro Street, which is among Seoul’s most iconic cherry blossom streets.
Arrive in spring to see the pink petals of the cherry blossom trees adorning the fields of the park. See how the wind carries the petals around the grounds creating a blanket of pink snow. While you’re here, stay for the annual Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival.
Head to the northeastern end of the park to wander along the island’s northern shore and appreciate the excellent views of the water and skyscrapers on the other side of the river. Set down a blanket on a patch of grass and enjoy a picnic with your friends in this scenic setting. The park is free to enter and open year-round.
Find Yeouido Park in the southwestern part of Seoul, along the southern bank of the Han River. It is part of the Yeongdeungpo-gu district, the political core of the city. Get a bus to the Yeouido Transfer Center or arrive at the Yeouido train station. You can also ride the metro to the nearby National Assembly stop.
