"I was looking forward to wonderful weekend away but the hotel just does not live up to its pictures, maybe it did 10 years ago. The hotel needs a serious refurb as well as the grounds of the hotel. The pool is definitely not this clean and blue as in the pictures anymore - it needs a paint job and a proper clean. The bed I slept in made such a noise when you moved, it was terrible. "Tim the manager is very welcoming & a great host. He works very hard to ensure the comfort of guests & to help them plan each day so they enjoy their stay at Wilderness to the maximum. Maureen the owner speaks to individual guests each morning at breakfast & is very supportive. She has given great thought to the decoration of each room. "Our visit was short and sweet as we were travelling through to another destination. The highlight was the morning sunrise with a beautiful view of the lake. I probably expected a different feel to the hotel but perhaps it was because we arrived late. We ran a bath but had to drain it because it had a dirty rim from previous use.
