Disappointing Stay – YOTEL Boston Sets the Standard, DC Falls Short
My friend and I traveled from Boston to DC for the first time, excited to stay at YOTEL based on its glowing reviews. Unfortunately, this location did not live up to expectations in any way.
On our very first night, we were horrified to find a large cockroach right outside our room door. This is completely unacceptable for any hotel, let alone one that markets itself as modern and clean. While the staff did move us to another room on a different floor, the initial experience ruined any sense of comfort or trust. We didn’t even feel comfortable eating on the premises after that.
To make matters worse, despite staying for three nights and placing the housekeeping sign on our door daily, our room was never cleaned—not once. This was particularly frustrating given that we were charged an additional cleaning fee as part of our stay. Paying extra for a service that was never provided is unacceptable.
Coming from Boston, where the YOTEL is far superior in every way—cleanliness, service, and overall experience—we were shocked by how poorly this DC location compares. As first-time visitors to the city, this was a deeply disappointing experience that overshadowed what should have been a memorable trip. We cannot recommend this hotel.
