Buy fresh produce from the fish market and see the colonial façade of the last Spanish fort constructed in the Americas.

Isabel II is a quaint coastal town with several historic sights and museums on the island of Vieques. With excellent seafood restaurants and energetic markets, Isabel II has more of a local flair than nearby Esperanza. Admire the authentic charm of Isabel II and look around its old structures for a glimpse into its past.

For a sense of local culture, browse the stalls of the Fish Market. Chat with the friendly vendors and purchase their fresh lobster, conch, red snapper and other seafood. In the heart of the town lies Muñoz Rivera Plaza, a small park surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants and impressive churches.

Visit the plaza’s Iglesia Catolica and admire its white façade and light red features. Adjacent is the Adventist Church of Vieques (Iglesia Adventista de Vieques). From the churches, stroll southwest through the charming shopping streets of the town center.

A little southeast is El Fortín de Conde Mirasol, a 19th-century colonial gem that was the last Spanish fort built in the Americas. Explore the museum’s art gallery and inspect the array of indigenous relics. See the protective brick walls and cannons surrounding the building.

Visit El Faro de Punta Mulas, a historic lighthouse dating back to the end of the 19th century. Explore its museum that describes the seafaring past of the region.

The town has a tropical climate, with year-round warm weather. Spend a morning or afternoon at the beach to take advantage of the dry season, which runs from December to April. Drive south for 15 to 20 minutes to reach the white-sand strands of Navio Beach, Sun Bay and Caracas Beach.

The town is located on the northern coast in the center of the island of Vieques. Take one of the regular ferries from Fajardo on the main island of Puerto Rico to the Vieques Ferry Terminal. Get around the town and the nearby beaches via taxi.

Isabel II is a fascinating historic port town surrounded by gorgeous beaches.

The views of the ocean are simply amazing. The infinity pool is awesome, and while the restaurant looked good I can't comment on that as we didn't eat there.
