Most road are dirt and muddy after rain.  However, if you are looking for fall colors you need to get away from the lake.

Lots of hiking and fishing opportunities inland off the lake.  Rivers/streams hold decent populations of Brook Trout where there was enough flow.  Check trout fishing regulations on specific rivers/streams.
