Many of the shops close very early...5 or 6:00..at least on a Thursday which is when we were there.
It was not my scene though many love it. It was very busy and crowded. I felt like I was on an excursion from a cruiseline. Parking terrible so I would suggest walking.
Make sure you go before 9 am to enjoy it. Otherwise it gets too crowded and forget about it at night. It is nice to go and see it in peace. That way you can appreciate its history.
