The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way we travel, but it hasn't curbed our zeal for exploring. Here are a few tips on how to cope with the new challenges of traveling:

• Research the rules and restrictions in both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so remember to check before you book your flight.
• When you go through airport screening, do not remove your face mask. You will be asked to lower it briefly for ID purposes. Those who refuse to wear a mask may be denied entry or boarding.
• Avoid handing your boarding pass (electronic or paper) directly to a TSA officer. Instead, place your pass on the reader and then hold it up for inspection.
• You can take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your carry-on luggage. You'll have to remove it for X-ray screening.
• Remove personal items from your pockets, such as your keys, phone and wallet, and put them in your carry-on instead of into bins. This will reduce handling during screening.
• If you're bringing food through the security checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA officer will need to touch your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.
