The Keong Saik Road area is full of historical character and great restaurants and bars. The hotel is in a historical building. That may explain the somewhat odd, very long and thin dimensions of my room, which I did not mind at all. The Keong Saik Hotel is a good basic hotel with just about everything you need. I would have liked some shampoo and conditioner amongst the amenities and more stable, stronger wifi (but again, that might have had something to do with my room). I appreciated that breakfast (basic but fine) was included. The nearby Outram Park station is on the line out to the airport, so it's very convenient for getting around. If you hate staying glass boxes where you can't open the windows, the Keong Saik is an excellent alternative. I turned off the air con (which I hate), opened the windows, and listened to the birds outside during the night. One final point -- the hotel is next door to the Indian temple, that uses drums in its ceremonies. I loved hearing that outside my window. But you might feel disturbed by that kind of noise, and so ask for a room away from the temple if necessary
