I stayed at Helicone Villa and it was absolutely brilliant. The staff, housekeeping, and gardeners were all excellent. The villa is really secluded and secure, with someone at the gate after dark and cameras monitoring the grounds (not in private areas, of course).
The pool was fantastic, though the pump was a little loud. Some of the sun chairs are showing their age and could use replacing or covers. The outdoor kitchen was great, though the water jug was in direct sunlight and could benefit from a cover or replacement, as there were a few floaties in it. I used it for boiling water, but wouldn’t drink directly from it.
The rooms were very clean overall. A few bathroom cupboards could have been cleaned a bit better, and the safe lockbox wasn’t functional, so I didn’t use it. The outdoor shower was excellent, though the mesh covering it could do with some leaf litter removal. All sheets and plates were clean, and the gardens were beautiful.
The location is quiet, convenient, and everything is within walking distance. I paid about 1 million IDR per night, which I think is great value for what you get.
The only real downside was the Wi-Fi, which was quite poor, and a few doors needed maintenance as they were scraping. Otherwise, everything else was brilliant — plenty of water, complimentary drinks in the fridge, mosquito coils, and all the essentials you could need.
