"I love this old hotel and enjoy the character of the rooms and maze-like hallways. The rooms are big and the bathrooms have bathtubs. That said, the bathtub/shower was absolutely filthy with pink and black scum/mildew all over the taps, tiles, and walls. I ended up cleaning some of it myself; I was very disappointed about this, as this was my second stay. I also had to request towel changes. I love the location (amazingly close to shopping, restaurants, and along the shore) and since I saw that the rooms are being refurbished (probably why they’ve slacked on cleaning?), I might stay again, but I sincerely hope more effort goes into ensuring basic cleaning and hygiene is kept up for guests."

"The view from the room was excellent but we weren't prepared for the noise from the bar. Although the room was a great size, it definitely requires an update; most of the roller blinds cords were broken and the curtains didn't fit the window completely. An extractor fan in the bathroom would be beneficial."

"We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Grand Hotel. Will definitely return. The staff in all areas were great from check in to bar/restaurant. One area I do feel could be looked at is breakfast. As we were travelling with our 2 small dogs we sit in a separate area from where breakfast is served. This is perfectly understandable however, it’s quite the trek from the breakfast room to where pet owners sit. If you can get a tray to help carry your Coffee/Juice/Toast etc you need to be travelling with someone so they can sit with your pet while you go to the breakfast room. Plus you are walking through a very busy reception area. A suggestion would be that those guests travelling with pets could receive table service in order to avoid the many challenges we encountered at breakfast."
