Shower water would only get luke warm. Shower drain was mostly plugged up. Everything else was acceptable and I would stay here again as long as they fix the hot water and shower drain.

I used to really like the Hillside, but it has gone downhill. We walked into the room and it smelled so strongly of cleaning fluids our eyes were burning. We had to open the doors for a while to get the smell to a tolerable level. The room was dingy, and the furniture was banged up and dirty. The walls were stained. There was no safe or chains on the doors. The back door to the balcony had no deadbolt. I decided to forfeit a night and leave early. The beds were clean and comfortable. It’s inexpensive, but not much less than places that are a lot nicer.

The rooms were large and the area was convienient. The problem was that the TV did not work. The clerk did not know how to fix it and the clerk who did was two hours late to her shift so by the time she arrived it was too late.

Beautiful location. Nice pool. Two restaurants on-site, one for breakfast and lunch, one for lunch and dinner specializing in Indian cuisine. Garden setting in a lush forested area--yet in city. IHOP, Safeway, CVS within walking distance. Quiet locale and guests. Spacious rooms. Comfortable beds. Front desk/owners sociable and accommodating.

I loved how updated our hotel room was. Nice new finishes. I was somewhat disappointed finding quite a few hairs left behind from guests before us. Mostly in the bathroom and shower areas. Definitely not our hair. The sink plumbing was oddly loud whenever it was running. The kitchenette area is adorable but, keep in mind, no cookware or plates/utensils to use. Please add a small curtain or blinds to the little window near the closet, as it let it tons of light when we were trying to sleep in. Lots of scuff marks, scratches and dents in the newly painted walls. The dining table and chairs should be updated as well, to fit with the new, clean look. The bed was moderately comfortable. Wish the pillows were a bit firmer, especially since there were a total of 3 on our king sized bed. We were lacking a "do not disturb" sign for our door but luckily we told the housekeeping staff to come back later. The staff was friendly upon check-in. Overall, this hotel was fine for a night but they could improve upon some things to make it a better experience for a longer stay.

The owners have done an amazing job renovating this property. It has those “mid 60’s” vibes but with all the modern amenities. The rooms have all been recently updated. Amazingly to me, even though it’s right off Hwy 12, I have not heard any traffic noise (and I’ve stayed in 4 different rooms now). I’ve selected rooms with the “mini kitchen” - which is great to have a small refrigerator and microwave. It would be helpful if they stocked the rooms with a few paper plates and utensils. These rooms also have an induction cooktop - so, adding a couple induction-compatible pots/pans would sure help!

The staff was very friendly and was expecting us upon our late arrival . He even recommended a nearby store we were looking to find. The hotel was quiet and the room was clean and spacious. The pool looked nice although we didn't use it. I was able to get a room with a view of my car, which i requested. Great experience overall, very accommodating. i would have given 5 stars but our tv in the room did not work. No channels. I think it was a satellite issue.

Short two night stay. Really spacious rooms - has a separate dining/kitchen are complete with an induction range top along with a full-size refrigerator/freezer and microwave. I have a non-typical diet, so travel with a fair amount of food for custom meals (also freely admit I enjoy the savings from self-prep, too), so the layout was very convenient. The separate room areas also offered a break from being in close proximity while in the car. Another review mentioned road noise. While I did hear some through the night, I didn't find it disturbing. I found the positives, which included very warm and helpful staff , and close walking distance to Safeway, CVS, etc., to make this a spot I'd gladly return to.

The room was filthy. I can’t even believe the condition it was in. Bugs throughout the room, mold in the freezer, dirty bedding, and to top it off there was poop on the wall behind the toilet when we checked in.

Comfortable but too much road noise
I asked for a ground floor room but was told none available however I saw many ground floor room unoccupied. Maybe it was because I used a third party to book the room. Property adjacent to Hwy 12 so some rooms like the one I was in definitely get to hear the noise…

We really liked the location. It was a short walk to a grocery store. We enjoyed having a nice refrigerator and kitchenette. The property was beautiful with mature trees and a vintage feel. We did notice that the air conditioner was extremely loud. One of the beds was very comfortable, and the other was very much the opposite. The property needed some weeds, trimmed on the landscaping in the front, and needed some leaf blowing in the back parking lot. Overall, we had a good experience, and will definitely be back. It was a very good value.

The rooms were much improved with the updating. There was no housekeeping unless asked for, tiny sink area with no towel racks there or in the small toilet/shower area. The front desk person was not very friendly. It is located walkable close to shopping and Jeffrey's. We will not say there again.
