「This was an amazing experience and the highlight of our trip to Costa Rica. Giselle and the team at esquipulas took wonderful care of us. 「The house was unexpectedly nice. We thoroughly enjoyed the cool (unheated) but not cold, jacuzzi pool after a long hot day in Manuel Antonio park. This is a nice place, but they really, really, need to let folks know that this place is very remote and the road is very bad. Great if you want to bring everything and just stay there, but it is a 45 minute drive on bad, unlit roads to come or go from the lodge. We could see several places where the hillside had given way into the road and one...

「The grounds are beautiful and the facility was clean and well-kept. Staff members were pleasant. We would actually consider staying there in a different room but the white cabin with the thatched roof was awkward and uncomfortable to the point that we left after one night even though we knew we wouldn't get a refund. You can tell from the photos that some of the description is inaccurate (It's just one bedroom and doesn't have a private pool though there is one pool for all guests to share.) but...

「Beautiful gardens but no hummingbird feeders and variety of birds in April was limited. Obviously the hotel had tried to be more than it was with abandoned ziplines etc. I got the impression management was catering to one night stays for industrial sized groups to see quetzals. True, they succeed in that. Meanwhile other hotel birding trips were industrial too. Far better to get a ride to neighboring Batsu Gardens than use hotel birding tour.」

「Our villa was a pleasant surprise, poised up on a knoll at the beginning of the Ficus Trail with a lovely garden. Meals were beyond words, creative, beautifully plated and insanely good.」

「The hot springs pool was absolutely wonderful! And we even had it all to ourselves during our stay. Plus, the temperature was nice and comfortable. There was also a beautiful, peaceful, little pool next to the creek that we enjoyed. The property was really lovely and immense. We took a very long hike up for a good view.
