We stayed 3 days: 2 days in the Jungle View and then switched to an Ocean View on the last day (paying a high premium that wasn't worth it). Let's start with the Pros: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, always with the best attitude and smile; the access to the beach was beautiful, and the beach itself was one of the best in the Manuel Antonio/Quepos area. Cons: Both rooms had a high level of mildew, the AC unit didn't work, and it was blowing air with a terrible smell. We called reception, and they sent a technician who fixed it, but the smell persisted for the next 12 hours until it was gone or we got used to it. The room has a weird layout showers in one side, toilet in a different room, you have to walk from one side to the other if you wanted to use both, there is a huge kitchen taking about 60% of the space of the room with a tiny closet, if we can call it closet, the jungle view is just a green wall of trees. The food was terrible below average, the restaurant area was overcorwded and not by people but by exess furniture we cannot open the chair of the table without hitting the table next to it if both chairs where out, the serving area was way to small, and the taste of the food was also as bad, the view from the rooms is not as advertise, the ocean view (at least the one we received) has a bit of the view and wasnt that great as advertise. I will never stay in this hotel again and will not recommend it to anyone.

Hôtel très agréable tant par sa situation géographique que son confort. Nous étions dans la chambre 131 avec vue sur les arbres, les fleurs et les animaux. Singes, toucans, papillons, perroquets et autres oiseaux: un spectacle tous les jours. Deux belles plages accessibles à pied donc une avec un accès direct de l’hôtel. Personnel agréable! Cet hôtel contribue largement à la réussite de notre séjour à manuel Antonio.

We loved staying at the Shana by the Beach. Highlights included our room (we had an amazing oceanfront view with double king beds, kitchen and a balcony with dining table), the pool area (has an adults-only side with infinity pool view of the ocean, though it’s a little small, and a 2 for 1 happy hour from 3-6 pm daily), delicious complimentary breakfast (however, they serve the same dishes daily and might consider changing it up a little), and abundant hotel wildlife like white faced and squirrel monkeys and Toucans. Amenities were clean and the staff was friendly and attentive. There is also a jungle path (7-10 minute walk) down to Playa Biesanz, which is a small public beach nestled in a cove (bring water shoes as it’s a little rocky and cash for drinks and snacks). Playa Espadilla (public beach) is also only a 10-minute Uber ride, and in my opinion the nicest of the four local beaches I visited, even Manuel Antonio Beach. A few suggestions or things I learned: (1) per my research, we rented a car but should have just got a shuttle from the airport to Manuel Antonio, (2) driving around Manuel Antonio is hectic with windy roads and tight spaces, so ubering is inexpensive and hassle-free since restaurant are close; and (3) the monkeys that live around the resort will open your balcony door, so keep it locked. Overall, I would recommend this resort for its location to Manuel Antonio Park, abundance of local restaurants, and its room and restaurant/pool views of the ocean.

We had an amazing stay! Clean room, yummy restaurant, lovely beach accessible, cool pool, stunning views, crazy monkeys for entertainment, and market available with snacks and essentials. We arrived to a gift of wine in our room, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. With the gated entrance, we felt very safe, but the whole area seemed safe and walkable (if you can do those steep inclines!). We’d love to stay again!

Room was clean although not as nice as expected for the price but completely understandable as the value was in the view. Clean rooms and grounds. Friendly staff. Good food. Wash cloths we could have been appreciated, but we saw this at another place, maybe they don't use them? The view from our room was beautiful! And we loved the monkeys every morning on our bAlcony. But watch your things! The walk to the beach is not the easiest but we did enjoy the beach. The pools, restaurant, bar and staff are great.its on a very steep hill so beware of that but staff will golf cart you up and down if desired.

Clean room, very friendly and helpful staff. Impressed by the hot breakfast, great variety. The breakfast restaurant has a great view of the ocean and rainforest by the beach. Very cozily decked up for the holidays! The guest service staff were very helpful. They helped us with day tours booking for various activities. Comfortable and luxurious stay. I highly recommend this place.

The property has tight parking. My son was playing in the pool and got cut in his foot. The staff "examined" the pool and found nothing. Rooms were ok. There is a small pathway that takes you to a beach. The beach was a bit rocky so it wasn't as pleasant to play in for kids.
