We really enjoyed our stay at Pioche Village Park City as a couple traveling for 2 nights in ski season. The studio apartment we were given was updated, clean and well-stocked with kitchen materials. Great TV set-up! We really enjoyed the access to the ski gondola on the backside of Deer Valley + the hot tub after skiing. The onsite gym was great. The staff were very communicative via text on the check-in details (how to retrieve keys from the lockbox, what to expect once inside, etc.). I ranked it a 4/5 only because there were a couple of misses, which I chalk up to unclear property descriptions mismanaging our expectations. The Deer Valley gondola is adjacent to the property so technically it is ski-in/ski-out, but be warned the gondola is a rough 10m walk in ski boots downhill (uphill back). We drove over and were asked to park uphill and take the free shuttle down to the bottom (the deer valley parking staff explained how that works to us, and we feel the property should have shared that); upon return the free shuttle will bring you back to Pioche directly, but it does not pick up from Pioche (if this changed, this place would earn 5/5 stars). We stayed in the Baton building, which had its own well-stocked gym. The larger gym is in another building as is the yoga room and steam room; however it was unclear if my fob for Baton would access another building. A resident of Pioche Village told me the steam room wasn't working (another miss as that was a big draw for me).

We had an overall very enjoyable stay at Black Rock Mountain Resort. The staff throughout the resort was attentive, welcoming, and consistently professional, which made a great impression from check-in onward. Despite the surrounding construction, the property itself felt modern, clean, and well maintained. Breakfast at Overlook Restaurant was delicious and a highlight of our stay. Our server, Patrick, was especially attentive and friendly, making the experience even more enjoyable. There were a few opportunities for improvement. We had to request additional towels multiple times to match the number of guests in our room. The bed in the bedroom had a noticeable divot in the middle, which made sleeping less comfortable than expected during a relaxing vacation. We also experienced some late-night and early-morning noise from the room above, where a child was running back and forth, which disrupted rest. Overall, the service and cleanliness stood out positively, and with a few adjustments, this resort has the potential to offer an even more exceptional guest experience.
