The Brentwood Waterfront Retreat
8/10 Good
"My husband and I just spent two nights here. First off I would just like to say that the setting of this B&B is amazing. The grounds are beautiful and the views are spectacular. It is very clean and there are some wonderful amenities (especially the indoor pool) and plenty of seating areas. From there it is a bit more complicated. It is listed as a Bed and Breakfast, but there was no host and as far as we know there was no on-site staff. The email told us to use the double front doors, but when we got there, a sign told us to use the other door. We couldn't see the keypad for the second door and it took us a while to figure out that you have to push it before the numbers light up. This should be explained in the email. The breakfast was a continental breakfast consisting of danishes, muffins, yogurt, etc. There were warming pans there, but they obviously weren't used. You have access to a very well stocked kitchen (bring your own food), but you are expected to clean up after yourself. Before you leave you are also expected to strip the bed and take out the garbage. I have no issue with any of these things, but it's not really what you'd expect from a B&B. It's like a cross between a hotel, a B&B, and a cottage. Contrary to what many reviewers said about how well-maintained it is, we had a broken towel rack in our bathroom, and one of the switches for the bathroom fan was missing parts of the switch. It's a beautiful house and setting, but could use some updates."
Hessenland Inn & Schatz Winery
10/10 Excellent
"We had a beautiful weekend and it is such a lovely property with an INCREDIBLE restaurant and winery -- sampled some of their wines and they were all amazing. The only issue is that the room was a bit dated -- not enough plugs and we couldn't figure out how to get the heat working so it was rather cold when we got up in the morning and the kettle blew part of the electricity to room when we plugged it in, but it wasn't that big of a deal as we just adapted and went out for the morning coffee. Can't say enough about the friendliness and hospitality of the staff, they were incredibly responsive. And it was just a joy to walk down to the lake and watch the sunset. I want to go back!!"
Amber Hotel
8/10 Good
"We were not made aware that the entire hotel was on the second floor of a mall, with no elevators. We did see staff assisting one woman who had a lot of luggage. It would have been nice to know the situation."
Golden Spa Suite
10/10 Excellent
"Grand Bend Beach, and it was the perfect getaway! The drive to the beach was short and convenient, while their place was tucked away in a peaceful, quiet location that made it so relaxing. It had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The place was very clean, and well kept. Katie and Jim were wonderful hosts—they were always quick to respond whenever we had a question and were incredibly kind, accommodating, and attentive. They truly wanted to make sure our stay was enjoyable, which we really appreciated. We had a fantastic experience and would absolutely recommend staying here to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway near Grand Bend!"
