Our room was in what they called the first floor but our window was like what you would find in a home with a basement when you looked out you would be looking at peoples feet. The phone in the room didn't work the hallway carpets were extremely worn and coming apart. We will never stay there again for what we paid.

This is our third stay here in 2 years and all three times there is only one working ice maker and this particular visit it was on the fourth floor and we were on the second. This time last year we were on the first floor the only working ice maker was on the third floor. I think it's time to splurge and get new ice makers.

Our window had no lock on it, As a woman that is a non-negotiable. We had no remote and they did bring one to us. The tv looked like a tiny computer moniter, no way to stream or rent movies, so you are stuck with whatever chanels they have. Beautiful room and amenities. Need to fix the windows.

After two nights, I couldn’t take it anymore and they gave me a new room and said they’d put that room out of commission until they checked into it. They didn’t offer any compensation. My charging cord on my phone gave out. I asked at the front desk if they had any extra ones. They said they did but they couldn’t let me borrow it. They said I could leave my phone with them and they’d charge it. I felt that the customer service was lacking considering the price of the rooms.

Restraints and bakery weee closed for the two days we were there. This one the swimming pool floor was so rough. You couldn’t walk on it without it hurting your feet. They were painting the shuffleboard court during the time we were there so we couldn’t enjoy that game. We mattress was very soft and the pillows way to thick. On the hole we really didn’t have a very good anniversary.

It seems like any time Wyndham gets a property the state of the place declines. Zermatt used to be world class, but the whole hotel was left in disrepair and decline. Kind of sad to see it drop.

I'm confident that 20 years ago when the Zermatt was built it was a 5 star resort. Sadly age and lack of maintenance has taken it's toll on the property. You can still tell how it looked back in the glory days, but those days are long gone. To still call this a "resort" is probably disingenuous. Some examples: The pool table has tears in the felt covering and the 8 ball rack is broken (taped together but the tape is broken too). The shuffle board court is unusable due to lack of paint result in a very rough surface. The giant outdoor chess pieces are falling apart. The carpet in the halls is threadbare & torn in places. On the first floor, there is a large section of the ceiling that is missing and replaced with plastic sheeting. The grounds are mowed, but clearly not manicured as you might expect at a resort. On a positive note, the mini-golf course is in pretty good shape as is the carousel. The indoor/outdoor pool and hot tubs are nice and seem to be in good shape as well. With a significant investment in maintenance, the Zermatt could be restored to a 5 star resort. I don't know if there is enough traffic or the will to do so.

All of the staff was super nice and helpful to accommodate us with any of our requests or needs. We received the same courtesy at the Z’s on site restaurant as well. The atmosphere so conducive to feeling like one is in the Alps. Midway is a beautiful setting for the Zermatt.
