Incredible staff, gorgeous hotel, and the on site restaurant is incredible for dinner, and even a good breakfast buffet. "R West Group VIA INN Prime Kyotoeki Hachijoguchi is a solid choice mainly because of its unbeatable location. While the rooms do feel a bit outdated, the convenience more than makes up for it. The hotel is just a short walk from Kyoto Station and very close to malls and shopping centers, making it easy to get around and find food or things to do. Having a 7-Eleven right in the building is a huge plus and incredibly convenient, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The pajamas provided are also nice and comfortable, which was a pleasant bonus. Overall, if location and convenience matter more to you than modern room design, this hotel is definitely worth considering."

"Love that this ryokan had halal meal options! The entire place is gorgeous with a beautiful view of Lake Biwa. Easy to get to (they have a shuttle bus from the train station). If you have a private onsen, just know that the shower is also outside. No other options, unless you use the public bath."
