With new rules, restrictions and safety measures in place, travel looks a lot different at the moment. Here are some useful things to know before you get on that plane to Nuns' Island:

• Investigate what, if any, restrictions or rules apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so don't forget to check before you book.
• Requirements state that you must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, including at security checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA officer.
• Rather than handing a TSA officer your boarding pass, position it directly on the scanner yourself. Once that's done, hold it up for inspection.
• You're allowed to take one container of hand sanitizer up to 12 oz (350 ml) in your hand luggage. This will need to be taken out for X-ray scanning.
• Put any personal items (keys, wallet and phone) in your carry-on rather than a bin to reduce handling during the screening process.
• Transport any food items in a clear plastic bag and also place them in a screening bin. Separating food from your carry-on means it's less likely a TSA employee will need to touch and open your bag for inspection.

• Air France - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
