"The room was very spacious and clean. The bathroom was clean but the toilet was a bit wobbly. And the other thing that would have been nice is blackout curtains that close all the way, ours only closed half the way and our room was facing the highway so there was quite a bit of light coming in. Other than that, the hotel and the room were well maintained and updated. Breakfast was meh which we expected from our experiences in other similar hotels. The staff were nice."

"The staff is excellent, very helpful and kind. The breakfasts are terrific with many many choices and the dining room is large, wonderfully bright and comfy with many seating styles. There is also a lovely dining patio. The rooms are clean but kitchen cooking utinsels leave much to be desired. They are basic and are not always complete. The housekeepers should have a checklist of items required in each room. Air conditioning doesn’t work well but they are in process of replacing it. One of the three elevators has been out of service on every visit. All that said, it’a become a nice home away from home when visiting for Pirates baseball."

"Our room wasn't bad at all besides the water pressure in the shower (no different than any other hotel). There were only 4-5 handicap parking spots and they filled up quickly. Breakfast quality are the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. The eggs were watery the sausage patties tasted horrible. Now this was on a Friday. Saturday we decided to go up the street to Bob Evans. I will say the breakfast did look to be a better quality and guests were actually eating it, however we still chose to eat out. The coffee, juice breads, and make your own waffles were good. The appearance of the breakfast bar foods looked different each of the 3 mornings we were there. I guess it just depends on who is cooking that day. Other than the food, the front stsff were very friendly, and the room was quiet. I would stay there again next time I'm in Pittsburgh."

Red Roof Inn Pittsburgh - McKnight Rd

"Red Roof Inn Pittsburgh - McKnight Rd was a cheap hotel, and was particularly lacking in amenities, but it had what counts. What I enjoyed most was the shower. There was a shower with a perfect showerhead, just the right amount of water pressure, and it kept a consistent temperature and pressure. Plenty of hotels 2 or 3 times the price seem to skimp on plumbing and the water will get hot and cold whenever someone flushes a toilet, and one of the reasons I keep coming back to this hotel is because I know the shower is good. Bed was good too. Comfortable, clean sheets, only there were a few little burn spots in the outer sheet, which shows the hotel prioritizes saving sheets rather than throwing them away when they're not perfect. The air conditioning was steady and quiet, important as I stayed there during a heat wave. The Wi-Fi was inconsistent, as is typical for this hotel. I was getting only about 1 Mbps my first night, then oddly thereafter about 20 Mbps from the same connection. Make sure you can use your phone as a hotspot before coming here. When the Wi-Fi was working well, the Smart TV was also a nice touch, and I enjoyed YouTube. There is no breakfast here, but a good vending machine and a gas station right down the street. No microwave in rooms, one in the lobby, and a hot water dispenser. I saw one single North American wood cockroach, which makes sense because this is by woods, and I put it in the toilet. All told, a cheap hotel with acceptable trade-offs."
