With new safety guidelines to follow, travel looks a little different right now. Here's what you need to know before you head off to North Cornwall:

• Before committing to anything, see if any travel restrictions apply — in both your destination and origin. Get up-to-date information by reviewing government and travel websites.
• You must wear a face mask throughout your travel experience, even at screening checkpoints. Be prepared to lower your mask to verify your identity when asked by a TSA employee.
• You're no longer required to hand your boarding pass (paper or electronic) directly to a TSA employee. Rather, place your pass on the reader and then hold it up so the agent can inspect it.
• TSA now allows passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on bags. This will have to be removed from your bag to be screened.
• Place any personal items (e.g, keys, phone and coins) in your carry-on instead of a bin to reduce handling during screening.
• If you want to take food on the plane with you, place it in a clear plastic bag and then into a scanning bin. This lessens the likelihood that a TSA employee will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for inspection.

As travel bans start to lift, many airlines have resumed business with new strategies including physical distancing and an increased supply of face masks, gloves and sanitizer. Here's what a few carriers are doing to reduce the spread of COVID-19:

• Ryanair - this airline is known for cleaning with disinfectant and providing passenger masks.
• Jet2 - this airline is known for conducting passenger temperature checks and cleaning with disinfectant.
• Aer Lingus - this airline is known for providing passenger masks and cleaning with disinfectant.
