Stayed 4 nights here with my husband in November 2020... I got the recommendation from Andrew Harper. It was such a wonderful experience.. feel like home..charming townhouse.. great location with walking distance to everywhere.. staff is friendly, attentive and helpful... the manager got us upgraded to suite #16 is facing the garden. We requested breakfast in the garden and It was just fabulous. The bed is clean and comfortable, the bathroom updated and clean. The place is so unique and has NoLa vibes. They handle well for Covid 19 pandemic with mask and everything. we even got an option to do non contact express check out. I would go back to stay in this charming house again.

The property took you back in time. The location is convenient on the quieter side of the French quarter. Service was outstanding. Because it is an old building, the ceilings and walls don’t offer a lot of privacy. It was a unique experience without a doubt.

The staff was excellent and very accommodating. A special about out to Irvin for arranging highly desirable dinner reservations last minute. The location is excellent; however, there are a few downsides. You should definitely request (and pay for) and inner room. Our room had street noise even with the thick shutters that faced the street. Also, our mattress and pillows were surprisingly uncomfortable for this price point.

We had a wonderful stay at Soniat House, Cornell was our first contact when we arrived and he is wonderful! He always had a smile and eager to help with whatever you need. We had a room facing courtyard, which I would recommend, and it was quiet. My negative is that breakfast was not included but our overall stay was great!

The initial room they provided was dark and poor. I needed to upgrade to get a better room. This was a difficult beginning to my stay. I don’t believe they can be trusted to provide the room quality I thought I had reserved.

If you want a place with old time flare,clean rooms,excellent staff,beautiful courtyard,just outside the hustle of Bourbon St,then Soniat House is your place.It will be my go to N.O.place to stay! cant say anything negative about the establishment

A beautiful oasis of peace and calm
A lucky/unlucky circumstance led me to Soniat House. I was getting ready to return home from a weekend getaway when my flight was cancelled! It was hard to feel bad about that because it meant that I could spend the night in the French Quarter. I chose Soniat House because it was not too close to raucous Bourbon Street, and it looked really great in the listing. And, I have to say, the listing did not come close to depicting who wonderful this place is. It is a beautiful oasis of peace and calm. My room was beautiful - with pretty antique pieces, a comfy queen-sized bed and high, high ceilings. The rest of the building was lovely - quirky and elegant and interesting - and the courtyard was lush and beautiful. I sat for a sweet hour, listening to the fountain and drinking a glass of delicious white wine, and at one point, out in the street, a brass band passed! Only in New Orleans! The people working at the Soniat were truly lovely, and so was the cat that hangs out near the front entryway. It was a an absolutely delightful stay, and I can't wait to return!

We prefer unique and older hotels to modern ones for their character and uniqueness. The Soniat House did not disappoint. The place is a lovely facility though because it is old it definitely carries sound in the hallway and the wood floors can creak too.. Each room is very unique and the architecture and furnishings were fascinating.

Beautiful historical hotel.
Amazing historical property with beautiful decor , it was like staying at someone’s gourgeus fancy home. It has a fabulous comun use balcony and a garden internal courtyard , It was quiet and secluded and yet near everything you want to see by walk distance. Located on the cool side of town. It does not have a bar or restaurant but there is a self service honesty bar 24 hrs. You just will never see anyone around if you are looking to socialize.

Outstanding hotel in French Quarter
Lovely hotel with outstanding service! Walking distance from many attractions, and I felt very safe in the area. The staff were friendly and approachable, and go out of their way to make folks comfortable. Rooms are lovely and romantic, and the atrium inside of the hotel gives it a wonderful, European feel. Would definitely stay here again.

Our second stay at this beautiful, comfortable, atmospheric French Quarter Hotel...worth every penny...room is charming, spacious, luxurious bath, beautiful surroundings in rooms and common areas...welcoming, quiet, perfect central location, evocative of another era, combined with today’s comforts...can’t imagine a better place to stay in the FQ if you want a lodging experience evocative of the place.

Very charming old hotel. Worried that it would be noisy but it was fine. Loved the courtyard and the biscuits served with cafe au lait in the morning. Honor bar in the library is also a nice touch. Very congenial.

We were able to walk to Jackson Square in minutes and easily enjoy all the French Quarter had to offer while staying in this beautiful, quiet, insanely quaint hotel. Our room was luxurious. The service was amazing. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone seeking a romantic getaway.

A long-time favorite, but ...
I have stayed at Soniat House for years. I love the ambiance, the location, and the general feel of the place. Normally I give it 5-stars across the boards but I this time I can't. The house is as pristine and lovely and atmospheric as always, but an issue occurred that dismayed me. One night I came in rather late, drew a glass of water from the tap in my bathroom and almost gagged: it was oily and had some residue in it -- unpotable. I reported this to the night staff person; I had already grabbed 3 bottles of water from the honor bar; he said if I needed more, just call and he'd send someone up. hmmm...nothing else said. In the morning, I reported it again to the staff member at the desk. "Ah yes ... I saw that note." (or something to that effect). When I returned in the afternoon, the water was fine. My point: a paucity of hospitality. Not even an "OH I'm sorry -- what can we do for you?" or "OH ... I'm sorry -- could we move you to another room" or even "OH I'm sorry -- please have a drink on the house from the honor bar." I understand plumbing in old houses, and the plumbing was being worked on the day I arrived. The point is not that something went awry; that happens, but how the establishment deals with it is the issue. How bumps in the road like this are handled matters. This was not handled with the hospitality I have always associated with this house, and that makes me sad.
