"Our family stayed at Oakwood Hotel Oike Kyoto and it was lovely! The rooms were clean and comfortable, the staff were helpful and accommodating, overall I would highly recommend anyone coming to Kyoto to stay here! :) I also had a little incident with the hair dryer and I told the staff when I was checking out. I told them to charge it to the room but they were not concerned about that, they asked me if I had burned myself. They were so thoughtful to this clumsy tourist!"

"This was my first time staying at anything like a pod hotel or hostel- this felt like a hybrid of both- and it completely calmed any fears I had about shared spaces like this. My stuff was safe, it felt clean, the bed was cozy and comfortable, guests (on the all female floor) were respectful, the shared lobby space was pleasant to spend time in and the free beer hour was a nice way to chat with others staying there. I’m already talking about staying in the Tokyo location on another trip soon."

The room (jr suite) was decorated tastefully and the sound system was a nice surprise old school tube and horn system!"

"Our issue was very specific and might not affect most. There were limited gluten free options in the restaurants for lunch and dinner. Although you can convince a chef in other places to grill fish or steak easily, it was not an option here, at least in the common restaurant. Breakfast was better. They had gluten free bread and many options. Also, all restaurants (there are two other special ones) close rather early. But other than these (which might not be a big issue for most) a really good hotel. Fantastic staff."
