10/10 Excellent

"We had a lovely stay at Hotel Madison. One of the biggest advantages is its location, as it is very close to Roma Termini Station. If you are arriving from the airport by bus, the hotel is conveniently located. It is also well connected by public transport, with easy access to both buses and trains. The Vatican is only about 20 minutes away by train, and we even walked from the hotel to the Trevi Fountain one evening, which took around 25 minutes. Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable. Housekeeping did an excellent job, with the room cleaned and towels changed every day. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our stay. The only minor drawback was that there was no kettle in the room for making coffee or tea. Aside from that, everything was great, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

"Pros: - Clean room with distinct Roman charm - Nice building - Friendly staff Cons: - Hairdryer would overheat and stop working after only a few minutes of using it - If you're above the 1st floor, the building has a weird layout where you must take an elevator up from ground floor to the first floor, walk past rooms, then get onto a second elevator to reach your floor (it's also slow/small - we found ourselves taking the stairs more than once). - Despite what Google may say, if you're booking through Expedia, the breakfast is not free or included unless you explicitly include it. - If you're not keen on walking, this location is a bit further from tourist attractions (expect ~25min to the Trivie fountain, and ~40min to the Colosseum). - The room I stayed in had stairs in it, ~5 steps leading from the main door/bathroom entrance to the bedroom (might not be a con for you). - The AC randomly reset higher when we were away - The bathtub is high, and I say that as a 6'4" man - I hit my shin on it trying to get out. The bathtub also doesn't have a door, so the bathroom floor gets soaked. - The shower has a weird design where the cord wraps around the temperature handles and at times will change the temperature on you. Expect random heat blasts followed by random cold bursts when moving around. Overall, the stay was fine for the duration we had in Rome. Would I say it was worth the price that we paid, likely not - but the problems encountered weren't major or vacation ruining."

"Location is not ideal, quite a distance to restaurants/coffee shops; sandwiched between two VERY busy thoroughfares and as such it’s extremely loud at all hours. Hotel not at all as presented online, it’s very dated, especially bathrooms (moldy tiles in the tiny tub/shower): the decor is a tacky mess with neon lights, faux flowers adorning plaster statues, and terrible wallpaper throughout. We were so disappointed. All made worse by a dismissive front desk team who were the opposite of welcoming, was told there’s a €10 charge for ice to chill the complimentary bottle provided as part of our Expedia booking. Will not be returning or recommending."
