This is our 2nd stay in one of the wagons at Buffalo Valley Ranch. Our kids loved our stay so much last time that it was their only request for our most recent trip. It is a unique experience for sure. The bathrooms are what you would expect being on a horse ranch. The lodge bathrooms are open 24hours, so I would recommend using those. All of the negative comments are likely from people with unrealistic expectations. If you want somewhere unique to stay with your family, away from the hustle & bustle of Jackson, give this place a try. I promise your kids will love it!

Rustic was nice. 75 sled dogs howling at night made it difficult to sleep I really enjoyed the horse trail ride.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the unique wagons at the Buffalo Valley Ranch! Was amazing walking around to see all the sled dogs and horses and was convenient having the cafe down the path for dinner. The view of the mountains is also amazing! It is a working ranch so be prepared to take in all that unique experience offers.

Some upgrades are needed.
I wanted something different, so I rented a stagecoach. It was actually quite comfortable except the bed doesn’t include sheets. The donkey 30 yards from my coach let me know he was unhappy at 2a. The 50 yard walk to the restroom/shower was dark and muddy. The bathroom/shower is pretty nasty. It was interesting though.

It’s a working ranch, making it a fun adventure to hear the cows and see the horses. I’ve stayed in the wagon several times…only “wish” is for better, cleaner bathrooms.

Beautiful views
I stayed late in the season. The teepees were down but they gave me a wagon. I was very thankful that I had my own bedding, it kept me warm. There is a heater in the wagon, but I relied on my goose down. It was a muddy time of year. The view of the horses was pretty. The community shower was hot, no problem there.

Cute affordable cabins/tents and nice view of the Tetons; however, the communal bathrooms were very dirty and there was a wood 2x4 with a nail sticking out on the floor in one bathroom. The restaurant on site was closed but we were given recommendations to a great restaurant near by

Find somewhere else, it's worth paying more! The heater in the wagon didn't work properly, the carbon monoxide alarm went off in the middle of the night and no one was available to help. We had to leave with 2 little kids in the middle of the night. We could deal with bad customer service and the horribly dirty bathrooms, Can't deal with possibly dying in our sleep. Got a run around from all the managers as well as expedia regarding refund. What a joke of a business. Such a disappointment.

Do NOT Recommend, Don't waste your money. UNSAFE
My friends and I (all women) were excited about an adventurous stay in a Buffalo Valley Ranch Chuckwagon. We had stayed in one before in Utah and it was great - so it wasn't our first Chuckwagon Experience. However, we weren't prepared for this Chuckwagon. It was so bad that we left and lost our free night we had earned with hotels.com. First, we did enjoy watching the horses being moved from one pen to another but that was the only thing we enjoyed. There was only a zipper on the Chuckwagon - NO DOOR at all - no way to be safe. So if you're a group of women please keep that in mind. There were spider webs around the light fixture and a big bug in the ceiling and it totally smelled like a barn. The mattresses looked uncomfortable. We walked in and all just looked at each other in shock. We tried talking with two clerks about the problem and they both refused to work with us in any way so we left and had to pay $236 to stay in a decent hotel that night elsewhere. They also had charged $20 to rent sheets for the night - we returned these unopened and they refused to even refund that part! (Having to file a dispute for this charge.) Also - be sure to eat before you go - we were going to eat dinner there but the cook in their restaurant angrily shouted, "It'll be two hours before we can get to any new orders!" Two of us had stayed at Heart Six (same organization) years before in a room and we were satisfied - sadly, this place has really gone downhill.

Pros: it is relatively cheap and has more fun than hotels in the region; View is nice and you can see many horses; Cons: It gets really chilly at night (August) even the heating is working; It is very smelly outside the wagon (from horse manure) but okay inside the wagon; pay extra 20$ for beddings; Bathroom is outside and shared. You get what you pay, overall is okay as the kids like it. Don't check in too late as the office may be closed and it is very dark at night.

This looked great in pi tures but what a mess. The bathrooms looked like they had not been cleaned in weeks, had to pay an automatic gratuity even though the staff did nothing in the restaurant. The food was over priced. Witnessed a young lady come in with what looked like a minor injury and asked for some ice and she got denied. I would not recommend this place at all. The only thing good was the veauty of natured surrounding this place.

Covered wagon with mountain views
The Ranch is liated under a few different names- when you arrive, you actually check into Heart Six Ranch. They do provide blankets, but charge $20 for a full set of sheets needed for your stay. Each wagon has a heater (no air) which came in clutch for cold nights (even in the middle of Aug the nights got really cold). There were plenty of outlets to plug in devices. Our wagon was directly across from a horse pen- the kids loved petting them and feeding them hay. Each morning and evening, they run the horses from one pasture to another- cool experience. Restaurant on site is good food, big portions- but spendy (18% gratuity added on all orders). Three showers on site- they get busy at night- shower in morning for shorter lines. Bring own towels. BEAUTIFUL views- Grand Tetons, brightest star show we've ever seen! Fun experience!

While it was interesting to stay in the Wagons, it was noisy. The community restrooms were dirty. I have seen cleaner restrooms at a truck stop. We also had to pay to rent linens. I did not see this anywhere on the facility website or on Expedia.

First time at this Buffalo Valley Area. After a rough muddy spring drives are a little rough. That doesn't phase me, but I expected it to be better maintained. Great views, so far seams quiet and will be a great primitive experience for my 11 year old in the tepe.

We stayed in the covered wagons for three nights. They are spacious and have electricity. They were clean. The floors will get dusty but that’s the nature of staying in a covered wagon on a working horse ranch. The bathrooms / showers were not far from our wagon. They get muddy and dirty from people’s shoes but we’re as clean as I’d expect for camping. If you expect resort level accommodations, this is not for you. You are camping and sharing a bathroom with the entire campground. The showers really need a space for hanging towels, toiletry bags, clothes right outside each shower. They do have lockers, benches, and hooks but they are nowhere near the showers. This is my one “complaint” about the stay. If that were upgraded at some point, everything would be perfect. We did a horseback ride and it was fun even in the rain. The guide was great and the views were beautiful. We loved our stay and plan to bring our grandkids next time. They will love the covered wagons!

Good price with unique experience but....
It was good for a unique experience but the staff wasn't friendly and the food was super expensive. The bathrooms are shared and there were two stalls and one was always clogged. There were three very small showers and two were out of order. The bathroom was always flooded with water and muddy.

Would not stay here again
The positives- the staff was very friendly, the views were beautiful and the horses and animals on the ranch were great to have around. We did a horseback riding trip and it was lovely, great guides and friendly staff to help with our first horse ride. The negatives- we stayed in a wagon and knew about the shared bathrooms. What we didn’t know about was the deplorable state they would be in. There was 3 bathrooms for about 40-50 people, and more up the hill that were not fully functioning. They smelled terrible, had standing water in them, the shower stalls were covered in mold and mildew and there was no way i wanted to brush my teeth in there let alone shower. The bathrooms are up on a trailer and there was buckets catching water beneath the showers the entire time. The trash cans on the property were overflowing with food and cans- yet we were told there would be a hefty fee if we had any food/containers in our wagon- because of bear safety. We had to pay for our own bedding and towels because the wagons did not come with them- the sheets had black hairs all over them as I made the beds and several stains. The restaurant was very expensive- we paid $94 at dinner for 2 burgers and 2 kids grilled cheeses and then $97 for a waffle, an order of pancakes and a breakfast burrito. Counter service only, the restaurant was filled with flies, and the bartender was covered in sweat soaking through his shirt.

The location was good but that’s about the only thing. It was a nice location to visit both Grand Teton and Yellowstone. The cafe had really provided no service but was terribly overpriced. We paid $84 for 3 kids burger meals and one adult burger meal, the plates had maybe 15 French fries and they included a 20% gratuity although they did not provide any service. We ordered at the counter and were not provided any refills on drinks either. The wagons were dirty and dusty, and way too close together. We could hear everything our neighbors said all night. The pillows and mattresses were flat, dirty and uncomfortable. The bath house was filthy. In the women’s side only one out of the three showers was functioning. The grassy areas around the wagons were not mowed or maintained which made it a breeding ground for mosquitos and other bugs.
