Recommend taking a tour to understand the history of the area and what makes it so special - besides the beautiful vistas. My husband did the hike to the cross, while I attending a mass and visited the amazing art museum from the pieces the monks have collected through the years - it is basically the Rijksmuseum in minature! We both very much enjoyed our day!
Took a tour to Montserrat combined with a winery and tapas tour. All day but so much fun and one to not miss!!!
Very cool. We stood in line about an hour. I think it would have been shorter, but they close for prayers a few times a day. Bells tolling while waiting a deafening treat. Heard local choir practice. Very sacred place obviously. A cloud blew in as we left, making the thousands of candle lit colorful votives set in the cliff walls very picturesque.
Don't miss the art museum.
