"The Royal Oak has a wonderful location in a quiet village setting and visitors can expect a relaxing change of pace. The countryside around is spectacular for England and the people are without exception friendly and helpful. I'm perhaps biased because my family lived in Gt Ayton in the early 19th Century and although I was born in North Yorkshire today, as a visiting southerner it's very much my home ground. "Cameron (owner) was very friendly, helpful and knowledgeable of the local area, he also prepared a great breakfast. Our room was on the top floor, a comfortable and decent size room and large bathroom, it also had sea views across the harbour Our visit was for a birthday celebration, we were given a card and a bottle of Prosecco in our room which was a nice touch and much appreciated.
