This is an old-fashioned, sixties-style B&B that's a bit dated but that did not affect our stay because everything was really clean. The bedding smelled lovely and the bed was very comfortable. It was incredibly quiet with no road noise. The decor and carpets are a bit old but well maintained and the carpets were well vacuumed. The bathroom is shared but there is an extra toilet in case it's occupied (it was always free when we needed it) and bathroom was kept really clean. Janet was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely book again. There's no hairdryers in the rooms but there is a kettle and chips, but you need to bring tea and coffee, which is perfectly reasonable when the rooms are so competitively priced. Overall, I would recommend it

Retro charm in the heart of Redcar

Nice retro-feel about the property; it's clean and my room is cozy and comfortable. Makes a change from a bland corporate chain. Nice lady on reception; very helpful.

The front door was not secure. Many times I found the lock open. The lock showed obvious signs of someone trying to force their way in. The parking included with the room is an out right lie. The options were park on the street or paying for the use of a car park. My interactions with the staff made it obvious that asking for a refund against the cost of my parking was pointless. My room had at least 3 holes in the wall patched up with brown paper. The bed sheet was ripped. My doors lock showed signs of someone trying to break in. The key safe out side the room was in operable. The reception and shared bathroom stank of smoke. Most times I went to use the shared bathroom it had lumps of ash on the floor. At random times in the night an explained mechanical noise would whirr and buzz loudly. Usually 3 times a night and always around 3 am. Despite this my room appereared clean if worn. I would not recommend the place. It would do if you could find nothing else in an emergency.

It was fine, but I arrived fairly late and there were quite a few groups of youths hanging around the area. It was a bit intimidating when I went back to my car and there were 8 or 9, 15 to 16 year olds standing around the vehicle.
