Great for seeing a show at the nearby Hammersmith Apollo. We had a twin room. 4th floor...no lift...89 steps in total (ish). No lift. We were fine with that but just letting others know! A minute to the tube, 4 minutes to the Apollo. Good cafes nearby for breakfast.
Kettle, coffee machine, fan and towel were a nice addition. Toilet/sink/shower fine. Clean freaks wouldn't love the loos, but it is 'clean enough', given the price!
Comfy bed, cheap, cheerful!
Will use again :-)

The staff was very kind and friendly but there was a lot of confusion and lack of organization. There were also no towels for rent at the desk as the website said there would be and the toilet in the all female dorm was broken (not a huge deal as there was another restroom outside the room but still not ideal). The rooms themselves were clean and the beds were normal hostel beds. Definitely worth the $20/night but not much more than that.
Perfect location if you need to stay near a tube station tons of shops unfortunately was a bit let down by the stay because when I checked in the bed that was assigned to me clearly still had not been turned over was given another bed and had left for the evening and when I returned someone was occupying it. So since it was late and no staff around I took one of the other beds that weren't turned over yet but empty to be able to sleep. The mattress needs to be swapped out as there is no cushion left in it, I could feel the bars of the bunk bed very easily (201-1). There was no one at reception when I checked out so I couldn't voice the complaint of the occupied and unclean bedding. The only excuse for no new bedding was that they couldn't enter as it was a female dorm and they were male which I understood and why I was reassigned but severe lack of communication of staff or something as to why I still ended up sleeping in already used bedding from the previous night...

I can't recommend staying here. The location is excellent, directly across from the train station, and the woman who checked me in was friendly, let me store my luggage early, and recommended a great nearby pub. Unfortunately, that's where the positives end.
The biggest issue was the unbearable heat. London was hot during my stay, but my room felt like an oven. The windows only opened slightly, so there was almost no airflow. Multiple guests raised the issue with the front desk, suggesting fans and asking to speak with a manager. The response was essentially indifference, with staff saying guests could request refunds if they wanted. I wasn't looking for a refund, I just wanted a reasonable place to sleep.
The lack of hospitality was disappointing. Another reviewer described the staff as seeming annoyed that guests were interrupting their misery, and that matched my experience.
There is no elevator, so expect a lot of stairs. The kitchen is very basic but has drinking water. There was also a persistent unpleasant smell in that area. My en suite shower leaked badly, leaving the bathroom floor soaked after every use. There were additional shared toilets and a shower in the hallway, which was convenient.
The low price may be tempting, but I wouldn't stay here again, even outside of summer. I don't need luxury, just a clean, comfortable place to sleep. The staff's lack of concern and unwillingness to address obvious problems made it clear that guest comfort isn't a priority.
Took 15 minutes before someone turned up to reception. Water machine didn’t work. Hot in the room. The bathroom area was just sad. I didn’t end up staying. Terrible. And I’ve been to many hostels.
If I was rating the Devil’s armpit, this place would be 5/5. Sadly, I’m not. I’ve stayed in many places and this was the worst I have experienced.
I booked weeks in advance through Expedia specifically for a twin room with a private bathroom due to medical needs. The description said “private bathroom”.
Days before arrival, the hostel said I had actually booked a bunk-bed room with a shared bathroom. I was told the hostel had made an error, but none of their twin rooms have private bathrooms and the website description was wrong.
A double room with a private bathroom was available, but cost 50% more. Finding an alternative at the same rate would be difficult. I asked for a discount; management refused.
We kept the twin room and were placed on the 4th floor. No lift, narrow stairs, increasing heat; the floor absolutely stank of bins.
The shared bathroom was cramped, dirty, old, with nowhere to put toiletries, and unbearably hot.
The dusty room had a tiny window providing almost no light or ventilation. No air conditioning, only a weak fan. The coffee machine’s water tank was missing its lid and caked in dust.
My temperature sensor recorded 42°C. We couldn't sleep for even 10 minutes due to the heat and were extremely unwell by morning. We checked out at 7am.
The incorrect bathroom description, late notification, awful facilities and extreme heat made this appalling. 42°C without adequate ventilation or air conditioning raises serious health and safety concerns.
