「Staff were by and large very helpful. A request for boiled eggs was treated very poorly at night but at breakfast it was no problem. Room very good but odd bits dusty. Bed large and comfortable. False alarm at 2.30am not only not welcome but not managed well by staff member. Food only average. Decor lovely. Big car park. Wanted to like the place but of the 4 hotels in the group we have visited this was the worst.」

「I really enjoyed my one night stay at Y Pengwern. The bar was friendly when we checked in, and when I was shown my room was amazed at how big it was. I was backpacking and there was plenty of room to reorganise my kit, and the bed was large and very comfortable. After a long day's walk we were looking forward to food, and were very happy with the big hearty meals we had in the restaurant. 「The hotel is nice for a short stay however could do with a few upgrades but generally well maintained. When we arrived we had a very warm welcome and throughout the stay our 2 dogs were made to feel relaxed and happy. The shower in the room was so small you struggled to move about and the shower gel provided even though smelt lovely was obviously watered down.
