"On-time shuttle reserved through hotel, warm welcome at reception, very nice room for the money. The sliding glass door and bathroom windows did not have locks; the problem was never addressed despite multiple attempts; our security felt compromised though ultimately no issues with anything being stolen; stored highest value items in a secure safe.
So… this resort is not operating on all cylinders. It’s mostly a staffing issue. Some staff provided exceptional customer service, some mediocre, and some very poor. For example, some front desk staff were not at all attentive or helpful. I was just trying to find out what the resort had to offer and didn’t get much help. Service was Extremely SLOW! Once you got your overpriced food, it was really good though. Housekeeping did a great job cleaning our room and was very friendly; they earned their tips!
I had the best deep tissue massage that I ever had in my life here. The views from the room were amazing! The snorkeling was outstanding! We had a great day fishing on April 8th with Amberjack, Bonita, Whitefish, and a once-in-a-lifetime *bonus catch of a 150 pound marlin that was released to live another day.
We won’t be returning to the resort until we hear that ALL of the staff are delivering exceptional customer service."
"Firstly, I rarely review any business good or bad, but Hotel Palmas de Cortez was simply appalling. When checking in, the woman at the front desk would only cut us one key card for the room for 3 people. She said come back tomorrow if you want more. She was incredibly rude. When we got to the room, it was a dump. We had a Presidential suite and it was anything but! It was so run down and disgusting we went back to the front desk and asked for another room. We were subsequently shown room that was covered in more dust, had dead insects on the window sills, stunk of mold and didn't look as if it had been cleaned in months! We eventually stayed in the original room as we had no choice. We went out and bought cleaning products from the local supermarket and cleaned the room ourselves to where it was livable. Housekeeping only made the bed and folded the used towels. I deliberately left dust on one of the sofa arms to see if housekeeping would wipe it off during the 6 nights we were there - it was not! The overall hotel is tired and desperately in need of a facelift and someone who cares about the property. The restaurants on site were terrible however the staff at least were pleasant and helpful. The pool bar doesn't serve food - you have to get takeout! The gym was disgracefully filthy - couldn't use it! We've stayed at many properties in Mexico, some good, some bad, but nothing like this! The website portrays the hotel as something entirely different to reality. Stay away!"
"The property is not new so if you are looking for something luxurious you may be disappointed. The food, staff, and atmosphere were amazing. Very relaxing. "
"Clean and well appointed room. Most are upstairs I believe. The balcony had a lovely view of the sea. Fridge, microwave, tv wifi, a couple chairs and a lovely bathroom. At a reasonable price. An easy walk to the beach. Our two small dogs enjoyed, too. And The restaurant and food were great. A definite win. "
