Plane spotters flock to In-N-Out Burger near LAX for prime views of jumbo jets roaring overhead. Beach lovers can hit the sand in nearby Manhattan Beach or catch waves at El Porto's surf break.
I chose to stay at the Inn at Playa del Rey based on other reviews and on my need for 2 nights in LA, preferably close to LAX.
The Inn was a very pleasant experience. The staff were efficient, engaged and helpful without being fussy, and the décor comfortable and easy going in a sea-side cottagey, non ultra-modern, way. Eating breakfast or relaxing in the lounge you tended to gaze out over the wetlands that border the Inn from behind - who would have thought that staring at ducks and pelicans...

Really charming B&B in a lovely wood building with lots of character. Room was clean, comfortable and pretty and had a balcony sitting area. Well appointed bathroom. Very comfortable bed. Lovely wine and snacks in the afternoon and nice breakfast in the morning. Friendly and welcoming staff. Great amenities (bikes, beach towels, books, computer access, cookies in the room, beverages, etc. Location is very close to the beach and all the action in Santa Monica.

What a wonderful discovery! Everything about this stay was perfect, from fresh cookies and cold bottled water on arrival, to a large, clean comfy room, with soft, soft sheets, excellent air conditioning, great water pressure, and an absolutely delicious breakfast served with a warm smile. This is a beautiful, secluded property - seems like is remote, but is actually only a few minutes from the freeway, 10 minutes to Silver Lake or downtown, 15 minutes to Hollywood, 35 minutes from the ocean....

My Girlfriend and I had planned a mini trip to the Getty and the area so decided to stay here after I picked the Inn of the 7th Ray to have a romantic dinner. We checked in after enjoying the Getty and the Host met us and showed us to our room and gave us a briefing of the property. The room Rhett Butler room was their best room and the balcony, view, fireplace, comfy King bed and nice furnishings were great. The only negative was there is only a large two person tub and no shower. Hiking...
