Quite far from train stations. But the property offers pickup and transport of luggage from near Kyoto Station and its free. But you have to do your own transport of luggage back later. Limited eateries and shopping, especially at night. Have to take a bus at nearby busstop to go to areas with more shopping.

Beware that no staff at the counter to assist you
The room and toilet is big and well-facilitated. The washing machine inside the room is very useful and like the dehumidifying system inside toilet to dry up clothes within hours. We didn't use the stove and microwave. The only thing is there is no service at all as most of the time there is no staff at the counter. We came within the check in period and there was no staff at the counter, we waited and waited then we tried to ask a local to make a call to the hotel contact number on our behalf and asked what happened. They said that the staff will be on the way back. All in all we waited for about 45 mins for the staff to come back. Besides us, there was another family waiting also.

Nice and clean, location could be better.
Very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly, although they demanded 2000 in taxes which other hotels didn't. The rooms are a bit small but that is normal for Japanese standards. We liked that a washing machine and a bathtubwith TV was available. The hotel is right next to a bus stop which is helpful. Also the river is only a 5 minute walk away.

Very good, could be excellent with more experience
Small hotel with a handful of rooms, mine was well laid out with kitchenette, laundry facilities, tub/shower, two beds & sofa, all looked very clean. No housekeeping provided, which is fine if expected. My room was by street but not too much traffic noise. On bus line with stop immediately at the door. General impression: the hotel was constructed by professionals experienced in developing hotels but is now run by well-intentioned staff not very familiar with the hotel business, which showed in various ways: my room had no towels at all, there was a long hair on the bathtub plug chain, & the toilet seat bottom was totally yellow with urine, like someone had peed all over it with the seat up. Front desk only staffed 7-11am & 4-9pm, but nobody for check-in at 5PM, but that clerk later phoned & made dinner reservations, much appreciated. The other clerks were more awkward in customer relations. I couldn't get hot bath water & found that they use on-demand water heating, which is fine if you expect that, but no instructions provided. I asked at the desk & was given a tiny useless form. (My fault for not knowing Japanese, but future guests should know the challenges.) I downloaded a manual & used Google translate, but it was frustrating. To leave my bags after checkout cost ¥1000 but couldn't get them until 4:00pm, which didn't help me. I think the employees are well-meaning but they need more experience to make their guests' stays more pleasant. Sorry for criticism.

The smalk kitchen was useful and proximity to the large park with the imperial palade was nice. The room could use a small reading lamp or two behind the bed, there were only large overhead lights. The staff at the receptikn centre were very nice and efficient, but there was no relianle shuttle to the hotel location from the reception office (it was cancelled without explanation on our day). A bit of a walk to the main shopping and main temple area (20 minutes with a child), but nice area and clean hotel.

Room was great, very clean and functional. Location was good. Not super central but close enough (buses are very frequent and easy to take). Staff was very nice but communication ia really hard - a basic level of English would make things a lot easier!

This is like a home when we are stay in Japan, for more than 4 days, everything inside, transportation is very convenience, bus stop is just a couple step from the door. I have been 10 days here, and everything ok but from day 4 until I am check out the WiFi signal is very poor, and can’t browse anything. I have been complaint everyday but doesn’t change the condition. Hopefully can be better to solving any problem during our stay. And also checkin time is only 4pm to 9pm I have been arrived at 4pm but the reception able to serve us about 4:30pm on that time. Thanks,

Reception is never there during times listed
This hotel states there is reception from 7-11:00 AM, and 4-9:00 PM, but there is never anyone there!! I do not recommend this place for people who do not know the area. It was self check in and self check out. If there is a problem, no one available to help you. The phone number they give on a sign at the front desk did not work. It’s a shame the service is so bad, because the room itself was spacious and very nice minus the noise from the busy road.

the location was great for walking around. The apartment was very spacious, accommodating our luggage easily. Even though the beds were 2-doubles pushed together rather than one queen bed, my partner and i found it comfortable and slept very well. The women at the guest center were very kind and helpful.

We enjoyed our stay at Stay Sakura Kyoto Gyoen East. Our other housing in Kyoto didn't live up to our expectations, so we had to find something really quick. This apartment hotel was nearby, so we decided to check it out. The staff at the front desk was very helpful and they went above and beyond to accommodate us. We booked the next two nights right there. The location is really great: there are many local restaurants, organic grocery store "Farmer's", next to bus stop and near train/metro station, also close to many Kyoto attractions. The building inside and outside was clean and modern. The room had many great amenities. The beds were very comfy. Comparing to our previous place it was night and day, for the similar price. If we go back to Kyoto, we'd stay at this place again!

京都観光に適した　リーズナブルで便利な宿です．人の多い繁華街から，頻繁に走っているバスで10分ぐらいの便利な場所にある．しかもバス停がすぐ目の前．大通りに面しているが，部屋は良く遮音されており，静か．新しい建物なので，中は清潔できれい．トイレ，風呂も綺麗．キッチネット（小さなキッチン）が付いているのもいい．洗濯機／乾燥機も部屋の中にある．ベッドが固いマットレスなのもよかった．コンビニも少し歩けばある．駐車場は　目の前にあり　便利．欠点は，近くにスーパーがないこと．キッチネットの食器が限られていること．それ以外は，リーズナブルで便利な宿．

子供連れで食費節約
結婚式出席のため幼児を含む家族で二泊宿泊しましたがお値段がリーズナブルなのと洗濯機が部屋にあり子供の着替えが洗えたことと、浴室乾燥がついていたことがとても助かりました。電子レンジがあるのでコンビニで買ったものも温められ、冷蔵庫も2ドアでアイスが入れることができました。お陰様で食事などの出費が抑えられました。 テーブルがもう少しあれば良かったかなと思います。
