Karuizawa only good for outlets and ski resorts?

The small resort hotel reopens strictly at 4pm for check-in… We were sort of stranded in the cold as we arrived at Karuizawa early slightly after lunchtime, we couldn’t even deposit our luggages as the hotel main doors were locked… Then hotel will be closed again from 11pm to 6am, there’s nothing much to do in Karuizawa after dark to speak of… Otherwise all were fine with expected Japanese-run standards. Onsen was good as praised in reviews.

Breakfast - variety, amount and taste were great. Room & Building - Air conditioning unit was not working inside of the rooms and building. it was really hot. Bath - Drinking water at the changing room was warm. A fan wasn't working properly. Bath smelt chlorine.

建物が少し古いのか排水溝の匂いが気になりました。大浴場にロッカーがないので携帯やルームキーが気になりゆっくり入浴できなかった。お掃除の方達はとても愛想が良くて感じ良かったです。 楽しく過ごせました。
