Mediocre Stay

Not the best for relaxation. Partial Ocean view was nice, however, Small Lanai faces busy traffic. Unit was outdated, patio door was struggle to operate & screen was even worse. Kitchen was decently stocked for cooking. Biggest disappointment was the absurdly TINY Hot Tub across the road that was barely big enough for 4 people.

We had a "partial-view" studio in building 6 across the road from the main building. Our unit was independently managed by Castle Resorts, but we had full access to the main facilities. The pool area was underwhelming, but the laundry facilities were useful. The room was adequate. The partial view was not spectacular, and the lanai was not great. Sleeping was difficult as the room fronts a busy road, and the roosters like to wake up at 3:45 AM. Our unit was not particularly clean, the bathtub was pretty nasty, the dishes and utensils needed a thorough washing before use, and the block of knives were all dull. We did have to pay an extra $200 on arrival to the management company over and above what we had already paid through Expedia. I now see it is in the fine print, but it was an unexpected inconvenience.

Hotels.com needs to update their info on Kona Bali kai and Kona Bali Kai needs to update their info for hotels.com nothing was accurate and hotels.com, Castle company and the hotel them selves need correct phone numbers. I tried for weeks to get hold of anyone and hotels.com tried you couldn't get hold of anyone either I tried everything even fb so I flew by the seat of my pants thinking that I may be sleeping in my rental car the first night update your information on Castle Kona Bali Kai no numbers work.

Very Solid Kona Condo w a Parial View

Great location on Alii drive, in the same property as the popular Poke Shack. Lots of public beach access near by and a generous partial Ocean View. Spot had a kitchen, with all the necessary utensils. Free Parking & Wi-Fi is definitely a plus. Check-In & Checkout was very simple. Call the property direct to finalize your reservation, especially if you plan on arriving after 5pm. Only complaint was the bed was squeaky, even with normal sleeping movements like rolling over.

Great condo, but poor management

Property location is great, parking plentiful, and the unit was very nice. Listing picture is slightly deceptive as property stretches over 4 buildings and we were in one across a street from main one seen in photos, but still had an ocean view and access to property features like pool, laundry, beach. Had issues with the unit where wifi wasn't working, cable was out, and kitchen sink was clogged. The management company said "we're off site and can't do anything..." and wouldn't reply to emails after.

They were a condos you only got 4 towels for 7 days. They charge you if you want anymore. They charge you for any amenities. The bathroom smelled like pee, the extra blankets smelled. We asked for more toilet paper we did not get any.

Grounds clean, well-lit, ample parking. Room not real clean, no bath mat or kitchen towel, shade broken, would not close for privacy. Listen said ocean view...there was only a sliver, mostly just looked into big building, not like picture shown in listing at all. Very expensive cleaning fee when arrived, non refundable, not clear on listing. Pool ok, teeny hot tub full of kids. Busy, noisy road right beneath unit.

We want to pay what was quoted & we had to fight hard for this. Expedia was never in the pic 4 us!

The location of our room was noisy. but since we booked late, we couldn't expect more. A little more welcoming @ the front desk would be nice & having more amenities would be nice...it was bare minimum. The staff outside were constantly working to keep the place well groomed & I have to say it very clean, we didn't see any bugs, only microscopic ants. Thank you!

Unethical Practices

Some things you should know before staying here. The check in process is confusing if you arrive after hours. There's also a hidden cleaning fee ($165 for us) that you don't pay for until you arrive. When we were searching to accommodations, I filtered the results to include air conditioning, daily housekeeping, and internet. Daily housekeeping isn't free, it costs $60/day, there was no air conditioning in our unit, and the internet was super spotty. We arrived after hours and then left early in the morning for a tour, and when we were able to see the front desk about our hidden cleaning fee when we were back in the afternoon, we were scolded for not coming in the morning. I explained that we left before they were open, and she argued with me that they open at 8:00. We left at 7:30, and it was so bizarre to have to justify our actions. The positives were that we had a condo with a BEAUTIFUL view, and everything was in working order!

It was across the street from the beach & away from all hotels/shops in downtown. What was most uncomfortable was I was on the 3rd floor & I had to carry my luggage, 3 pieces, up the stairs! No elevator, no assistance from office nor did they ask if I needed help.

Pictures shown on Expedia website of the hotel and room are not real. room was extremely worn out from fixtures and furniture and Linen and very disgusting and dirty. Nice Property. Our condo was nice, it did need a little maintenance the slider doors were not easy to move the ice maker was stuck (would not give any ice out) and the pocket door to the bathroom needed a little help. But on the positive side this did not take away from our stay. Easy to get to, not far to Kona or good snorkeling beaches.
