"Staying at Kawaguchi was a wonderful experience. The innkeeper lady was very helpful in explaining everything and pointing us to good restaurants and giving general directions around the town. The room was surprisingly large with additional space for two in the loft. Tea and cookies provided in the room. Kimonos to wear around were a nice touch. We enjoyed the ofuro (onsen bath)."

"A little challenging to get to but once you’re there you understand why. Really beautiful location. Tough to get food at night because most of the restaurants cater only to the daytime tourists which was tough and the ferry only runs so late so you can’t get dinner late and head back. "Best part is you are steps from the shrine. Dinner was in a private room. Hotel is on top of a creek with waterfall. Onsen was perfect. It was the crown jewel of our vacation. "

"Lovely hotel on the promenade overlooking the bay. We stayed 2 nights. Staff was exceedingly polite. Only problem is that everywhere to eat in town closes at 4-5 pm and the hotel offers only a very large prix fixe dinner that must be reserved in advance. A hotel in this price range should make allowances for guests who don’t want or need the full dinner experience. "

"Nice traditional Japanese hotel, with super friendly and helpful staff. Located in the heart of town, a lot of nice small restaurants around, but not noisy at all inside the hotel. Area is well connected to tram and the main station. The Japanese breakfast (there is a choice between western and japanese breakfast) is great!"
