If you're spending some time in Higashimachi, Higashikawa Town History Museum and Higashikawa Bunka Gallery are top sights worth seeing.

You can spend an afternoon exploring the galleries in Higashikawa Town History Museum in Higashikawa.
A secluded little village, almost European feel to it. We rented bicycles at the visitor center and rode around the town. Daisetsuzan and Asahidake and Higashikawa would have been impossible for us without a car, so we rented one from Asahidake.
