「We had a really disappointing experience with Powhatan Motel. After driving 16 hours on a long road trip, we arrived around 3am expecting to check in, since the motel clearly advertises a 24-hour front desk and check-in availability after 4pm. Unfortunately, that was not the case. There was no one available at the front desk, no way to check in, and no communication whatsoever from the property. 「SUCH a clean room. As a clean freak myself, I was delightfully surprised at how clean the room was. Upon entering, it smelled wonderfully fresh, and everything was spotless. There was a Dairy Queen right across the parking lot and a small bar across the street. I did not visit either of those, but it was good to know those quick options were available. I was passing through on a long trip and was looking for a place that was safe, clean, and dog-friendly, and this fit perfectly. 」

「The staff was nice when we checked in. However we never saw anyone after that. We woke up early to enjoy the free breakfast before our 6 hour drive and they had almost nothing. There was an empty crockpot with dirty tongs, waffle maker was not on and old batter in the dispenser. No warm food available. We had no one to complain to because no one was at the desk to check us out. Only a sign that said “leave your key here”. The room wasn’t dirty, but felt stale and not freshly clean. Not worth the...

「The room wasn't the cleanest. The breakfast was ok. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The little shampoo bottle in our room was half gone when we arrived. The pool was closed. The hotel is right next to the train tracks.」

「Our electricity went out in the bathroom, and t.v. They tried to fix it but they couldn’t figure out what the problem came from. They put extension cord for the t.v. To a different outlet, and another extension cord for a lamp that was put into the bathroom. They did offered to put us up in another hotel, but we had family members in another room so we chose to stay at the Red Roof. Because we chose to stay they did refund our room, which was very nice of them to do so. 」

「One of your breakfast ladies was especially kind and helpful to us. Even tho she was busy, she took time to answer our questions. Her name was Tonya (maybe taylia). Our second morning she came and asked if we needed anything else. She was kind and helped make our stay more enjoyable. 」
