The balcony offered a rather limited view of the river. There was a fridge in the room but no microwave. We saved some food in the fridge overnight and asked hotel staff if they could warm up our food for 1 minute. They simply refused.

We had two nights here to travel up and down the west coast. It was a great tip off point for both franz Josef and hokitika, but a little sleepier than hokitika, which we liked.

Good hotel in dull town

Greymouth was chosen as a stop because the distance travelling, the hotel was clean, but all hotels are hot The Copthorne is one of the best in Greymouth and it served its purpose

Probably the best hotel in Greymouth

A nice hotel room, that was spacious. There’s no air conditioning but we left the balcony door open and there was no road noise. The hotel restaurant was good for both evening meal and breakfast.

We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the room we stayed in overlooking the river. The room had been renovated recently and was very nice. The staff were friendly and accommodating, we would stay there again.

Perfect overnight stop over.

Right in the centre of town short walk from the railway station. Good for the one night we stayed. Very clean and although breakfast wasn’t include we paid extra and it was very good.
