「We frequently choose older motels that cost less. We look closely at their photos, and if it looks updated and clean we choose it. Usually we find it is owned/managed by an immigrant family, frequently from the Subcontinent, and they do an excellent job with the older property. The Royal Inn in Hudson, Wis., is such a place. It was very clean, the air conditioning worked well on a hot day, parked right in front of our room. Convenient location.」

「The Inn was a bit more run down than the pictures showed. The carpet in my room was very thick with long piles. The room, while cool due to the working air conditioner, had a damp feel to it. The toilet paper on the roll in the bathroom had a damp feel as did the armchair in the main room and the bed linens. The bathroom sink had difficulty draining. The walls in my unit were fairly thin as I heard a rather loud argument from the guests next door. With my Expedia rewards, I only ended up paying...

「Expedia claimed there was extras like couch in room when booked vs other rooms for more. No couch, room was dirty. Hotel told us we need to talk to Expedia about it. Expedia live AI agents unable to assist. Good luck getting real customer service with Expedia.」
