Business trip - overnight brainstorming session. Really appreciated the environment & history of the place. Good facilities, nice view, great food, peaceful - everything was perfect for it little think tank.

The main building of the Gyllene Uttern looks like a Scandinavian castle. Perched high above Lake Vättern, it has a grand view of the lake, whether from a large terrace, one of its several lounging spaces, a glassed-in dining room, or from rooms facing the lake. It also has a baronial dining room, in which the very good breakfast buffet is laid out. We dined there in the evening, as well, and the food was excellent. We enjoyed comfortable suites overlooking the lake. The one disadvantage is that the old, castle-like hotel does not have an elevator, which made carrying up luggage a challenge, especially as we three couples were of ages 60 to 82. There was no indication of staff to assist with the luggage, which is the reason I gave "Staff & Service" 4 stars instead of 5. It has two newer two-story auxiliary buildings, which do have elevators. We have stayed in these before. The rooms are very comfortable, but not as charming as staying in a pseudo castle.

Beautiful hotel in a convenient location, when you need a stop a long the lake. The interior in the main house looked stylish, but a bit simpler in the houses we lived in. Rooms were fine and the view from our room was amazing. The area towards the lake had good trails for walking. We had to skip the restaurant, because the a la carte menu was boring, and you could not sit in the restaurant - that required a full 3 course menu. We found a great restaurant in the town instead.

Vi bodde i två rum på anexet. Jätte fin utsikt och fint i receptionen och i frukosten. Jag skulle dock velat ha fler utbud att välja mellan. Annars var allt toppen.
