We’re sorry that you had such a mixed experience- the room you booked is our smallest room and the details do make clear that TVs are purposely not upstairs to retain the historic atmosphere, but there are three separate TVs downstairs including one in the guest sitting room with very comfortable sofa and armchairs. On the stairs, there are just two consecutive risers/steps which do not include a handrail and this is in compliance with the applicable code. We do have thirteen other rooms in addition to the five upstairs which are at ground level and also include TVs. Being larger they also include armchairs.

Aimee, I find your review disappointing for obvious reasons, but on a different level, it is either disingenuous or misleading, or perhaps both. If you recall, you arrived with a pet, which you had not declared with your original booking because your pet sitter cancelled a day prior to your arrival. We were able to find you an alternate, pet-friendly room at the last minute, but while cleaning it immediately prior to your arrival, after the previous guest had departed, we noted that the bed frame had cracked and, not carrying spare queen bed frames, we did not have enough time to get a replacement, therefore, as you observed, the mattress and box spring was indeed on the floor. Our bad. However, when you left, after a few hours, you said in an email, and I quote, “Unfortunately my daughter wasn’t handling being in a different space well and so we came home. She’s autistic and sometimes this is how it goes.” To receive a negative review, over two months later and for reasons entirely contrary to your email at the time, is what we find to be “bizarre”. Finally, the shower cubicle is not moldy in the slightest, the gel coat is discolored and will be replaced when demand reduces later this year. Facts matter. Please try to be, at the very least, honest and timely in your reviews and perhaps have the decency to discuss your concerns with us first, as we believed you had in your email, shortly after which you received a full refund, if you recall.

We noticed the unusually low water pressure too- turned out most guests were also showering around that time. While our drilled well will pump 11gpm, spread many ways it’s never going to be city water pressure- sorry! Like many similar businesses we cannot find enough staff willing to work rather than claim benefits and as a result, we can only do the best we can with what we have. Patience and understanding is always appreciated during this time- thank you.
