A very centrally located, well run hotel, convenient for the pedestrianised historic centre of Ferrara. Secure parking. The excellent breakfast is particularly noteworthy, and the staff were all very helpful indeed. We shall certainly re-visit. Thanks.

Lovely location in this beautiful city. Proximity to the centro and the castle - great shopping and dining close by. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but it's Europe and most parking is complicated.

In the middle of Ferrara
I stayed here for Ferrara sightseeing. It is about 10 minutes walk from the station. There is no hotel around the station so you need to walk 10 minutes to find any hotels in Ferrara. Room was clean, it is not spacious but kept clean.

Ferrara Carlton Hotel
Nice apartment with sleeping area separated from living area by a hip-wall. Apt is in an adjacent building so you didn't deal with the noise and traffic of receiption area. All cooking amenities/utensils were provided which is great for a visiting family. Excellent breakfast wiht a range of hot and cold items and you could ask the staff to prepare something that wasn't in the buffet. Odd shower arrangement that took some creative dancing skills to use for a North American (not uncommon in many European bathrooms). Wifi - not very good connectivity. System was supposedly upgraded in Oct 2019 with high-end router system (give the hotel a call to confirm). I would recommend staying at this hotel even with the minor inconveniences mentioned.

Great hotel in historic part of town.
We had a nice stay at the Carlton. It was walking distance from the train station and right in the old part of town. Breakfast buffet was good with lots of variety. The staff were always very helpful. The room was clean with a comfortable bed. Pillows were flat and firm. It’s conveniently located in the center of the historic part of town so easy to see all the sites. I would stay there again.

Great hotel and location.
Great location and staff. Excellent breakfast and convenient cafe / beverages in the lobby. Fitness room could use some newer equipment including free weights. It was unfortunate that Italian law does not permit air conditioning at this time of year as when we opened the window we were subjected to mosquitos. Overall a great hotel to stay at. Highly recommend it!

Charming, small hotel in the heart of the historic district. Staff is very friendly, patient with non-Italian speakers and attentive to guests' needs. Rooms are cleaned each day in a timely fashion. Highly recommend to weary travelers!

The hotel is well located at a piazza close to the centre and on one of the main walking/shopping streets, so overnight there was very little street noise. The trattoria/restaurant close by at the piazza provided very friendly service and good food. The hotel and rooms are modern and well looked after. Being a large hotel, reception was always attended, and helpful to get my wifi up and running. The bathroom was high standard, but with the a quirk of the toilet pedestal being higher than usual, and the bidet round and short - careful how you use. Overall, i felt i made a good choice and it was value for the price. The look and feel of a place you would expect to pay more for. Happy too provide a positive review.

Terrible Choice!
I thought we were staying in the hotel-- my mistake --we were in the apartment across the street. Perhaps the hotel is OK but avoid this place at all costs! The room was dingy and depressing. The bathroom was tiny and inadequate. You had to go through 3'locked doors to both enter and exit the room. No elevator. The. Breakfast was average at best. The staff was helpful and best of all there were two excellent restaurants in the same square.

Great view, nice location
I had a lovely stay at Carlton. My room was smallish but nicely appointed and the housekeeping was flawless. It had a great view to Piazza Sacrati and the grand Church of San Domenico. Breakfast was varied and consistently good, and the staff was genuinely helpful. The hotel is a 5 mins' walk to the Castle and a brisk 15' walk to the train station, through a charming residential area. Great value.
