• Know what rules and restrictions apply to both your origin and destination. You may not be able to travel depending on local circumstances, so make sure you check before you lock in your flight.
• Wear a face mask even during airport screening. A TSA officer will require you to lower your mask temporarily for identification purposes.
• To avoid cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the reader yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA agent.
• TSA now permits passengers to take one container of hand sanitizer, up to 12 oz (350 ml) in size, in carry-on baggage. This will need to be removed from your bag and presented for screening.
• To minimize handling during the screening process, place items such as your keys, wallet, phone and belt into your carry-on rather than into the bins.
• If you're bringing food through the screening checkpoint, put it in a clear plastic bag and then into a screening bin. This reduces the likelihood that a TSA agent will need to handle your carry-on bag or food container for closer inspection.
