I was pleasantly surprised at the authenticity of the building and decor of the 18th century era. The owner puts great effort into making it an enjoyable experience. As a history fan this place surpassed my expectations. The breakfast was wonderful too!

Staying at the Josiah Keith house feels like getting to visit distant relatives in their own home back in time. at the Keith, you’re encouraged to lounge downstairs in an early 18th century house. It’s also a museum where historically accurate restoration is their main concern. the house has lots of furnishings and artifacts that were original to the house. some things are still being worked on just like an uncle or a cousins house would be. here that’s part of the charm that you are let into the intimacy of daily life with your relatives. the upstairs bedrooms share a bathroom which for us was fine. the breakfast prepared with love by the innkeeper with real culinary experience and apparently skill. It’s a wonderful gift to all of us when history can be made this accessible to so many. we enjoyed ourselves.

Nice change of pace

A great change of pace from the usual hotels/motels on hotels.com. An historic home with real character as opposed to the frills of a more modern place. Justin is very knowledgable about the place he owns/runs and has made a real effort in furnishing it with memorabilia connected the home's history. A pleasure talking with him and he cooked up a delicious (much needed) hearty breakfast.

Loved the fact they keep as much as possible to original home Made us feel at home I'm a introvert and felt welcome and other guests engaging we all enjoyed atmosphere Only suggestion a better mattresses even an overlay of memory foam would make a huge difference but definitely would go back. This is a unique 300 year old property with its own unique history and furnishings. I loved my stay there. The owner was very kind and did his best to make sure that all guests were well taken care of. He is very knowledgeable of the inn and the local area's history. I stayed only one night but would have loved to stay longer.

A Hidden Gem in Massachusetts

If you are a history buff, do not miss this opportunity to stay in this historical inn. Don't expect the impersonal and monotonous atmosphere of chain hotels that look the same wherever you go! The host, Justin, has a wealth of knowledge regarding this inn and is eager to share it with you. The inn dates back to the 1700s but the WiFi is 21st century strong! The nearby restaurant, McGuires, has great food and next door is Aroma Joe's where we found the best coffee during our trip to Cape Cod. Immerse yourself in a unique experience by staying here. We would book again in a heartbeat!

As a New Englander familiar with the Boston area- I highly recommend staying at the Josiah Keith house whether just visiting or even for a weekend away from the city. My partner and I stayed at the Josiah Keith property while down for an event at Gillette stadium and greatly enjoyed it! The owner - Justin - was friendly, knowledgeable, and exceptionally accommodating. His knowledge of the property and surrounding area is extensive, and it is clear he deeply appreciates the history of the house. Our three-night stay at The Josiah Keith House was great. The host was gracious, helpful, and genuinely committed to making guests experience a good stay. Rooms and shared bathrooms were clean, and comfortable. The rooms have antique furnishings. The care for the property and period correct restoration of this early 18th-century farmhouse after it sat vacant for five years shows. If you like looking at early American houses this would be a great place to stay. I found details in the house that are unique to the period. Highly recommend!

Amazing slice of history and hospitality!

We thought that the highlight of the weekend was going to be the concert at Gillette Stadium, but as we drove away from the gigantic crowds leaving the Stadium and into the charming quiet countryside, we began our real adventure into history at the Josiah Keith Inn. From the moment that we received the warm and personal greeting from Justin, the actual owner…not a bored night clerk or cold lockbox, we knew this was special. He showed us around this amazingly preserved Inn built in 1717 and coukd not have beeen more gracious to meet any needs. Despite the age of the building and the many artifacts from history, everything was clean and tidy and comfortable. We slept great and enjoyed a most delicious homemade breakfast in the morning. It was delightful meeting the other guests and learning more about the inn and all the people staying there. As if leaving family, we hated to go and lingered over coffee. Honestly, days later, we are probably talking as much about the great concert as we are about the great overnight at the Inn. Don’t miss a chance to stay here!
