Relax with snacks or read a book next to the pond in this waterfront park, which offers views of the marina, bridge and small fishing pier.

A hub of live events and concerts, Coachman Park plays a unique role in the culture of Clearwater. It consists of a pond and a landscaped field bordered by a row of trees, with an opening providing unobstructed vistas of the waters of Clearwater Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway. Visit Coachman Park with a basket of snacks so you can relax with a picnic next to the pond.

Lay down a towel on the grass and sunbathe in the heart of this scenic park. Embark on a leisurely stroll along the brick-paved trails running beside the trees or read a book on a bench in their shade. Sit with friends on the shore of the small pond and listen to the patter of its fountain. Get active and join some of the impromptu sports games played on the large grassy field.

For something a little more social, attend an open-air concert at the park’s Charles Wharton Johnson Pavilion. Exhibitions and festivals, such as the Clearwater Jazz Holiday, are also set up in this popular central spot in downtown Clearwater.

Visit the adjacent Clearwater Harbor Marina, which has overnight mooring slips for more than 100 boats along with tie-ups for daily visitors. Snap photos of your favorites from the array of yachts and other aquatic vessels. Sit with your legs dangling over the edge of the pier.

Take in the views of the water, with the impressive Causeway Bridge to your left, connecting the mainland with Clearwater Beach, the narrow barrier island off the coast.

The park was named after E.H. Coachman, who sold the land to the city in the 1940s. It is located on the coast of Clearwater, on the tail that juts out from Tampa, Florida. It is part of the downtown Clearwater district, beside the city’s main library. Travel here by car public parking and metered parking are available close to the park.

While you’re in this part of the city, visit other nearby sights such as inland golf courses and beaches on the barrier islands.
