"This was a very mixed stay. We loved Rio but could not recommend the hotel. 1. Check in staff - they were so very rude. Just a reminder not to under estimate that not all travellers do not speak your language. The check in staff, including the manager were so rude - enough to consider if we would stay. Their laughing at customers is unacceptable. The staff member who checked us out was.loveky - thank you for your professionalism. 2. Rooms - rooms are fine. Great air conditioning. We requested a quiet room but got placed inbetween a party who had 4 rooms. They slammed the doors and ran between rooms for up to 3 hours. There is no free coffee in the rooms. They charge £14 for each nespresso - just be aware. We were out each day by 7am and ready for a shower by 4pm. Rio is hot! The rooms are not cleaned until 5pm. There is no shower gel provided in this 5 star superior hotel, just a bar of soap. The neighborhood needs to be treated with care. Breakfast is great. Waiters lovely. Pool looks unclean. Smoking allowed by pool even though notices say tgat it is not. Hopefully a fair and balanced review. Positives Great air conditioning Great waiters Breakfast good. Cons Very noisy Watch the neighborhood Rude staff at check in - hard to forget those first impressions. Coffee charged for in the rooms. Would not recommend. Plenty of other hotels to pick from. "

"Definitely not as nice as it looks online. The room was well worn, the towels very old, the shower needs proper cleaning, old dirty grout, and the WiFi was horrible. The breakfast needs improvement. Tons of breads and cakes, that were very good, but very few healthy foods. "

"Too many problems with this hotel to list. AC in first room did not work. Our daughters room had a toilet that wouldn't flush. Elevators were okay when working, but out of service at times. We didn't have comforters in our room until the third night. The room we had was very noisy because it faced the street. There is no gym here. The pool is small but refreshing. The breakfast was the sole bright spot. There was a nice variety of foods and all stocked well."

"There was mold everywhere! Even after moving rooms there was still mold. Major health concern. Despite the conditions, the staff was amazing and always went above and beyond to help us. Certainly the hotel’s saving grace. "
