"This is an older hotel but the location here is great, the view of the bay was everything, the sunset and the relaxed vibe. I’d stay here again just to have breakfast overlooking the water and sit by the fireplace in the evening- would have been perfect with a live band I guess we missed out. "

It’s a very old hotel and they have leaned into that, so if you want somewhere modern this isn’t for you, but if you want a piece of Berkeley history I highly recommend. "

"I would like to give a special thank you to Hannah at the front desk for her exceptional service. Although check-in was scheduled for 3:00 PM, we arrived around 11:00 AM simply intending to drop off our bags. She graciously accommodated us with an early check-in at no additional cost and provided us with a room featuring a beautiful view overlooking the city. The rest of the staff were equally friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. The hotel itself was clean, well-maintained, and very aesthetically pleasing. However, the fifth floor did have a noticeable musty odor, reminiscent of old or stale cigarette smoke. Additionally, the bed was quite firm, which may not suit those who prefer a softer mattress. The restaurant experience was average. While the staff were attentive and kind—kind enough to remove a drink I didn’t enjoy from the bill—the food and beverages did not particularly stand out. Overall, despite a few minor drawbacks, we had a positive experience and would consider staying here again in the future."
