The Belmont Mansion in Nashville is an Italian-style villa that played an intriguing role in the U.S. Civil War. It belonged to Adelicia and Joseph Acklen and served as a home where they took vacations from the Louisiana plantations they owned. The Belmont Mansion stands in the Hillsboro district in the southern part of Nashville. Travel by tram south from the city center for about 20 minutes and walk east for a few blocks to reach the house. If you drive, leave your car in the adjacent parking lot.
