Trevligt litet genuint Kinesiskt hotell i gammal Kinesisk stil!

Boutique hotel in the hutongs
The hotel is fantastically located just a short walk from Tiananmen Square, the Forbidden Palace and the rest of central Beijing. Our room was tiny, but that's the price to be paid for a boutique room in a traditional hutong building and you can't argue with the price for this location.
The staff were helpful, the room was clean and had everything we needed and breakfast was fine. The courtyard is beautiful and peaceful away from the noise of Beijing.
Nice design for the traditional Chinese style. Yet the bathroom is a nightmare, there is too little water to take a proper shower. The staff said the water pressure is always so low among all rooms... the price a totally overstated for a comfortable night after a long day trip...
if you want to have a really chinese experience it is the best option for you.
only one thing. nobody in the reception speak english, just the bellman and is not always there

Older Colonial Guest House, Kind helpful staff and close to the square also a good price.
This is a great place if you are wanting an authentic Beijing environment. The staff was very helpful and available. I liked the Chinease breakfast served. I was offered an upgrade and was happy with that. The room was charming and cozy. The walls and beams were on the dusty side. Overall, I liked the Hill Lily Guest House for an authentic old Beijing experience.

Not a winter hotel.
We were located right next to Tiananmen Square which is close to everything. The rooms are open to the Courtyard which in cold weather is challenging. They do have sufficient heaters in the rooms but it had to run constantly to keep up. If you want to stay here, pay for the better rooms because the cheapest room is barely larger than the bed. There was no dressers or place to put luggage open so we stayed packed in the suitcase the entire visit. The other rooms here were larger so it was just the smallest room that was an issue. The staff were pleasant and it is a nice place and well maintained. Overall it was a good stay with limitations I've listed.
Picked this place as it was one of the few hotels in our budget and close to a metro station. Great location! Seems they get few non-Chinese guests but they are very friendly and helpful. Rooms are rustic and breakfast was simple. We enjoyed our stay.
we loved this traditional courtyard guesthouse. super helpful and polite staff, not much English spoken but my mandarin is pitiful and we managed just fine with Google translate. easy place to find, a short walk from hepingmen metro, great neighbourhood and close to main sights. we loved the gorgeous room, the peaceful atmosphere and the lovely rabbits in the courtyard who greeted us every morning. definitely coming back to Beijing and I'll be returning here 100%
Det endte med at vi måtte betale for to nætter. Det kostede os 10.500 kr. for nye værelser plus 700 kr. for at ringe til Hotels.com.
Klimaanlage vorhanden. Das Bad sauber, das Frühstück sehr reduziert. Die Hotelumgebung nicht schön! Wir werden dort nicht mehr einchecken.

An interesting experience
I visited Beijing and stayed for 4 days in the hotel.
it's not a regular hotel.
the rooms are very smalland there is no space for the suitecases, but the staff willing to help.
the atmosphere is like living as chinese
the rooms are around the main courtyard
the main advantage is that the hotel is very near to the subway, because you can travel anywhere in Beijing by subway.
For our stay in Beijing we decided to ignore the 'western' hotels and opted for a courtyard experience. Unfortunately it was a disappointing one. The photos make the place look pretty fantastic but don't be fooled by them. The hotel is clean but somewhat shabby - I wouldn't categorise it as anything other than a basic B&B, or maybe a hostel offering private rooms. This in itself isn't that bad - if you want a courtyard hotel experience then the Elite Hutong has plenty of character and charm. However, it is horrifically over-priced for what you get. We stayed in other 4-star western hotels in China for less than half the price we paid for this place. If it charged a third of what it does then it would be fine. Way, way too expensive!
